Why Zip Block (ZB)
Wing seals in combination with concrete and elastomer regularly fail.
Wheeled traffic causes microcracks in the concrete/elastomer joints in typical applications. Continued, unrelenting vehicle traffic causes more and more damage, up to the point where the seal leaf falls off.
One-piece EPDM plastic system.
The Zip Block profile is strong enough to withstand the impact of vehicular traffic (including snow ploughs), regardless of the condition of the edge of the slab below. The ZB epoxy resin joint is highly durable and resistant to the constant flexing of the profile and temperature changes.
The Zip Block has been subjected to rigorous testing, including rolling loads of 1,350kg per wheel, with simultaneous vertical ceiling deflection; sub-zero temperature testing, including several freeze-thaw cycles; all applicable ASTM cycling tests. In 35,000 cycles, the elastomer showed no signs of wear or cracking caused by rolling loads.
